The ongoing efforts to repeal the tort reform bill that placed AL provider on the same footing continues. WiCAL has been strongly opposing efforts to roll back the caps on economic damages, the extension of the confidentiality of the Health Services Review activity, and related changes.
Proactive efforts are ongoing to seek passage of the “condolence bill” that would permit and encourage health care providers to extend apologies or acts of condolence to patients without such statements being used against them in a civil setting. We are further seeking to include AL providers in the definition of “health care provider” for purposes of being included in this bill.
