About WiCAL

The Wisconsin Center for Assisted Living (WiCAL) is the assisted living division of the Wisconsin Health Care Association (WHCA), the oldest trade association representing the long term care provider community.  While WHCA has for years advocated and represented the interests of the AL community, it launched the WiCAL division in 2008.

WiCAL members are full members of the association, having full benefits and voting rights. The Division maintains its own governance and agenda via the Council, which operates similar to a board of directors.  The Council is comprised of 14 individuals representing 11 of the WHCA/WiCAL districts, a multi-facility seat, a small provider representative, and a member representing the DD provider community.  The Council elects a Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary to serve as the leadership.

WiCAL is the Wisconsin affiliate of the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL), our national partner and AL division of the American Health Care Association.  NCAL is our national advocate and source of important member resources.  WiCAL is active in AHCA/NCAL committees and advocacy efforts.

The WHCA/WiCAL staff has depth and experience that is unmatched in the Wisconsin trade associations.  Three registered lobbyists cover legislative and regulatory advocacy.  Two lawyers assist members in navigating the legal and regulatory matters that face your operations.  A dedicated Communications Director guides the internal and external messages, and is available to help members in their media and pubic relations.  Financial and Special Projects Directors round our the resources available to members.  To see complete bios of staff, click HERE.
